About the Lakeshore East Neighborhood
Chicago’s Lakeshore East Neighborhood is one of the city’s newest neighborhoods West of Lake Michigan, East of Michigan Avenue, South of Chicago River and North of Randolph Street. This downtown neighborhood is comprised almost exclusively of high-rise buildings, with the exception of a few newly constructed and highly sought-after townhomes surrounding Lakeshore East Park.
The high-rise towers found in this neighborhood are full-amenity luxury buildings that offer the best in high-rise living. The Lakeshore East development contains several condominium buildings and three apartment buildings. The New East Side’s location provides extreme convenience to the Loop, Millenium Park, Grant Park, Navy Pier and Michigan Ave Mag Mile shopping. Many of the buildings in this neighborhood break the 40-story mark and provide excellent Lake and city views. The neighborhood is centered about an award-winning 6-acre landscaped park that features several fountains, Wi-Fi access throughout, built-in bench seating, a children’s playground and kiddie spray pool. Lakeshore East has been a tremendous success and the original plans have been expanded along the way to keep up with demand.
Lakeshore East Condos For Rent
The Lakeshore East neighborhood consists of several high-end condominium towers and a couple of highrise apartment rental buildings. All buildings feature state-of-the-art facilities, top grade amenities and luxury throughout. Constructed by Magellan Development Group, this community includes the Regatta, the Chandler, 340 on the Park, the Lancaster and Aqua in the condo portfolio. Aqua is a mixed-use building that features a condominium section, hotel floors and apartment rental units.
Located at 340 East Randolph in the South West corner of the development, 340 on the Park stands 68 stories tall and includes 344 private condominium residences. The Regatta at 420 E Waterside has 49 stories and 325 residences, some with views of Lake Michigan and the Chicago River. The Chandler at 450 E Waterside occupies the North East corner of the development and sits atop an elevated street alongside the Regatta, and includes 304 residences spread across 40 stories. The Lancaster building is at 201 N Westshore and stands 29 stories high with 209 private residences. The Lancaster is the smallest condo building within Lakeshore East and is ideal for those who prefer a smaller community within the development.
The crown jewels of the privately owned residences at Lakeshore East are the single family townhomes, which consist of two separate developments, the Aqua Parkhomes and the Benton Place Parkhomes. Limited to only 9 units, the Aqua Parkhomes feature 3 levels of living space and floor plans up to 3200 square feet. The Benton Place Parkhomes at 427 East Benton Place consist of 25 private units, each with different layouts and between 2400-4000 square feet of living space. The finishes are high-end and very modern in design, including Sub-Zero, Wolf and Miele appliances along with Snaidero cabinetry. The combination of single family living while being in a very “city-like” location is un-matched in both townhome communities.

Lakeshore East Apartment Rental Buildings
The apartments for rent in Lakeshore East can be found in the Shoreham, the Tides or the newly built Coast at Lakeshore East. Coast is a 51-story tower situated at 345 E Wacker Dr and includes 518 apartment units, retail space, indoor parking and building amenities. One unique feature of Coast is that it offers 3-bedroom apartment units, unlike the other rental properties in Lakeshore East. With construction completed in 2005, the Shoreham (400 E South Water) was Lakeshore East’s first apartment rental building and features 52 stories and 548 apartment units. The third rental building is the Tides located at 360 E South Water and standing 57 stories tall and containing 608 apartment units.
Renting in one of these buildings gives residents the opportunity to “try it before you buy it” and see how they like living in a luxury high rise building in this newly developed neighborhood. There is a good amount of retail space available in several different locations within the planned development. Residents who purchase in the Lakeshore East community can look forward to what retail tenants are still to come.
